According to information released on Thursday by the US Department of Labor (DOL), 190,000 first applications for unemployment benefits were filed in the week ending January 13.
This print exceeded the market forecast of 214,000 and followed the previous week’s print of 205,000.
According to further information in the newspaper, the 4-week moving average was 206K, down 6,500 from the average of 212.5K for the prior week.o
