According to the US Department of Labor’s (DOL) release of weekly data on Thursday, there were 225,000 new claims for unemployment benefits in the week ending November 26.
This print exceeded the market expectation of 235,000 and followed the prior week’s revised print of 241,000 (from 240,000).
The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.1%, according to the publication’s further information, and the 4-week moving average increased by 1,750 from the previous week’s corrected average to 228,750.
The seasonally adjusted insured unemployment advance figure for the week ending November 19 was 1,608,000, up 57,000 from the unrevised level of 1,551,000 the previous week, the DOL reported in its publication.
