According to the most recent data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), China’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) slowed to 1.6% on an annualised basis in November from the 2.1% print recorded in October.
The reading of 1.0% was expected by the market. The nation’s monthly CPI came in at -0.2%, below expectations of 0.1% and 0.1%.
According to the NBS, the country’s November food CPI climbed by 3.7% from a year earlier, while the non-food CPI increased by 1.1%.
The Producer Price Index (PPI), which measures factory-gate prices in China, showed a 1.3% decrease in the reported month as opposed to the -1.5% expected and the 1.3% decline seen in October.
