In the US, nonfarm payrolls increased by 223,000 in December, according to figures released by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday.
This reading exceeded the 200,000 market consensus by a significant margin and followed a gain of 256,000 in November.
According to additional information in the report, the unemployment rate dropped from 3.6% in November to 3.5% in December.
The Labor Force Participation Rate slightly increased to 62.3% from 62.1%, and the average hourly earnings, which indicate annual pay inflation, decreased to 4.6% from 4.8%, below the market forecast of 5%.
