In Chinese Yuan terms, China’s trade balance for December increased from CNY494.3 billion to CNY550.1 billion.
Exports fell by 0.5% last month as opposed to 0.9% the month before.
The imports of the nation increased by 2.2% after falling by 1.1%.
As both exports and imports showed a smaller-than-expected decline, China reported a widening of the trade surplus.
Trade Balance came in at +78B, above expectations of +76.2B and the prior value of +69.84B.
Exports (YoY): -9.9% compared to expectations of -10.0% and -8.7%.
Imports (YoY): -7.5% compared to -9.8% previously and -10.6% last.
The trade surplus between China and the United States was $29.5 billion in December, up from a surplus of $24.33 billion in November.
