The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Germany, which measures inflation, decreased from 10% in November to 8.6% in December’s flash estimate.
This result was less than the 9% market expected. The CPI decreased by 0.8% on a monthly basis in December.
The European Central Bank’s (ECB) favored inflation indicator, the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), decreased slightly from 11.3% to 9.6% on an annual basis, falling short of analysts’ expectations of 10.7%.
